Yellow—The Color Of Spring and Summer

May 17, 2019

3-Yellows

Add yellow to your spring and summer wardrobes

Light and sunny, yellow is a pleasant color that can brighten a rainy spring day, and radiate energy and excitement when it’s hot in the summer. In many asian countries as well as China, yellow is seen a the color of happiness, wisdom, and harmony. The most highly visible of all colors, yellow is often used for pedestrian crossings. Don’t believe me, on the the next rainy or cloudy day, compare white and yellow crossings, and you’ll see how much easier it is to see the yellow ones.

Safety, happiness, enlightenment, optimism, with all of the positive meanings behind this luminous color, consider adding a little yellow to your spring and summer wardrobes this season.

Here’re 3 ways to add a little yellow to both your spring and summer wardrobes.

Why I Own 3 Pairs Of Shoes, All In The Same Color

May 3, 2019

Rockport Caroline Waterproof Boot | Me Too Audra Loafer Flat | BP. Gabby Woven Wedge Sandal

Footwear is one of the bulkiest items in a wardrobe, whether it be when packing a suitcase or storing inside your closet. Sticking to neutral colored shoes—black, brown, grey, navy, tan, beige—is one of the easiest ways to keep a wardrobe small and cohesive. When you select one neutral color shoe that works well with everything, you eliminate having to think about what to wear, at least when it comes to your footwear.

That’s why I own 3 pairs of shoes, all in the same color—black. Yes, I do own other colored shoes, but over the years I’ve streamlined my footwear and begun to duplicate the neutrals, with black being the dominant color. I choose black because black is a common core color, which makes shopping for black shoes easy, you’ll see black in every season’s collection. It’s also a classic color, which works well with my personal wardrobe style.

How To Add A Touch Of Spring, When You Hate Spring Fashion

April 2, 2019

Badgley Mischka Lilac Trench Coat | CeCe Floral Tie Neck Blouse | Hinge Lace Detail Top

Key elements of spring fashion include pastel shades, floral prints, and lace details. But, if the ultra-girly style and colors that characterize spring are not your thing, then you’ll have to think of another way to add a nod to the season in your wardrobe.

Personal style means exactly that—it’s personal. No matter what the season is, you want to make sure that the pieces that you buy always stay true to your personal style.

I don’t sport pastel shades, ever. They are not the most flattering of colors on me and the lighter shades are a main reason why I am not a fan of spring collections. But that doesn’t stop me from dressing for the season—my way.

Essential Pieces When Working From Home — Summer Edition

May 16, 2018

In this increasing digital world, more and more people are working from home. When you work from home it’s very easy to roll into your home office in your pajamas and slippers and just stay that way all day. But sooner or later, this can get drab and boring.

If you’ve been working from home for a while, then you already know that it takes a lot of discipline to sit down and log in 7 to 8 hours (or more) a day, every single day. You can apply this same discipline by getting into the habit of getting dressed so that you feel energized and more productive.

Since you don’t have to dress up as if you are going into an office, you can select pieces that are still casual, but polished. And bonus, when FedEx, UPS, or that unexpected visitor stops by, or you have to run an errand on your lunch break, you’ll already be stylish and put together.

I’ve outlined a few pieces that are going to be cozy, comfortable, and stylish when logging long hours on your computer at home.

Trending Now: Kimonos And Mules

Kimono

Sole Society Paisley Print Kimono & Chinese Laundry Mule Bootie

In Japanese, the word “kimono” traditionally meant “clothing,” or more accurately, “thing to wear.” But in more recent years, the word kimono has been used to describe a loose robe with wide sleeves that is tied with a sash and is often long in length. The soft, silky material, and loose, flowy fit of a kimono makes this item of clothing a fun alternative to layering with a cardigan, blazer, or jacket when it’s warm outside. In fact, for Summer 2018, the kimono is one of the hottest trending items.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Spring Into Colored Pants

One of the hallmarks of spring is the awakening of color.  Blooming flowers, budding trees, grass becoming green again, Mother Nature always puts on a dazzling display of color during spring.

If you sport lots of neutrals with your pants, why not try mixing up your look with some color instead? Pastels are softer colors, known for their soothing vibe and lack of strong contrast.  Plus, pastels are always quite abundant in spring collections.  If you’ve never tried colored pants before, spring is the perfect time to dip your toe into a little color with pastel pants.

Here are some pants I’ve recently tried from the spring collections.
