My Favorite Socks For Summer

June 17, 2019

Bombas No-Show Socks

When it comes to summer socks and shoes, a big concern for me is preventing blisters. As someone with sweaty feet, going sockless leaves my foot slipping and sliding around, and littered with blisters by the end of the day. That’s why I prefer to wear a no show sock in the summer months. Finding a no show sock that pairs well with my sneakers is often a challenge. It’s not uncommon for a no show sock to slip off my heel, or for some of the material to peek out from the sneaker.

Until I found these.

Diversity In Fashion Will Take Time

October 23, 2017

Diversity makes fashion interesting, and fun!

Women (and men) come in lots of ages, shapes, sizes, and ethnic backgrounds, and can be found sporting a wide variety of fashion styles. Sure, I like to see someone with a body type like mine, at an age similar to my own, sporting clothes in styles that I favor, because it gives me outfit ideas for myself. But I also enjoy perusing body types that look nothing like mine, and personal styles completely different from my own too. Sometimes I’ll come across something new that I want to try for myself, other times I’m just enjoying the differences among people. To me, diversity and variety is what makes the world (and fashion) interesting.

Apparently I’m not alone. These articles highlight that diversity in fashion is growing, which is great news:

My Favorite Socks

November 15, 2015

Smartwool socks

Smartwool socks are my favorite socks.

I have sweaty feet and when I wear cotton socks my feet always end up soaking wet by the end of the day.  The cotton just can’t absorb all of the moisture.

Most wool socks I find too scratchy against my skin, but the Smartwool brand works really well for me.  I’ve picked these up in sporting good stores, The Walking Company, and ordered them directly from Amazon.  They come in many options and I prefer the “casual” style as it has the same thickness throughout the sock (photo above) which works well for me as a daily sock.  In fact these work so well, I sport them year round as my daily socks.

If your feet are like mine and sweat easily, you may want to give the Smartwool brand a try!

What’s your favorite brand of socks?

Layer Thermals For Warmth

January 15, 2015

Heattech thermals.

Uniqlo’s Heattech Thermals are a current favorite of mine.

Thermals are my favorite way to stay warm without adding bulk in the winter months.  For the past few years, I’ve been a fan of Uniqlo‘s Heattech Thermals.  They are very thin, but still add warmth.  And the best feature, is the scoopneck version.  With a v-neck top, it looks like a tank top peeking out.  And for tops with boat necklines or other odd shaped necklines, the scoopneck style stays hidden.  Many other brands have crew necklines for their thermals, which is great for adding warmth, but does not work well with many of my tops.

Do you have a favorite brand for thermals?

Sweaty Feet In The Heat

Summer Soles in Tan Suede

Summer Soles in Tan Suede

The warm weather is officially in my area (it was over 90F the past two days) so it seems like a good time for me to talk about my solution to sweaty, slipping feet in shoes and sandals for spring/summer.  I mentioned my solution to a co-worker recently and she liked it so much I thought I would talk about them here on the blog too.

Five Favorite Tips for Packing

May 13, 2014

I don't leave home without these.

I don’t travel without these in my bag.

It’s the start of travel season in the US and I recently discussed what I packed for both a longer and a shorter holiday.  These are a few packing tips I’ve gathered over time, focusing on plane travel, when one wants to pack as little as possible due to checked luggage fees.  And for even more great packing tips, check out Debbie’s tips over at Recovering Shopaholic!

Now onto my 5 favorite tips for when I pack:
