Favorite outfits for November.

Welcome to my monthly recap of what happened on Shopping Brake, as well as my favorite outfits from Instagram over the past month.

Jewelry is a great way to add interest to your outfits.  But before you buy, there are a few things To Consider When Buying Jewelry, including how much to spend, what styles to wear, and how versatile (or not) you want your new jewelry to be.

Now that the weather in my area is cooling down, I’ll be reaching for my sweaters soon.  Nothing makes one of my favorite sweaters a candidate for the donate pile faster than pilling. But before you toss your favorite sweater there are a few ways to Make Every Sweater Look Like New instead, including using sweater combs, sweater stones, and fabric shavers.

With holiday parties approaching fast, it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear. One item that is Trending Now is Velvet. You can add a little velvet to your look with earrings or a bag, or opt to sport velvet in larger doses with a blazer, pants, or even a dress.

Thanksgiving is a holiday centered around eating, which calls for casual outfits made for relaxing. You can use the same tips for Casual Thanksgiving Day Outfits for a casual Christmas or New Year’s Day too!

Black Friday shopping is one of, if not the, busiest shopping days of the year. To help you navigate shopping Black Friday effectively, here are 5 Black Friday Shopping Tips  that you could use any time of year that the stores are crowded.

Finally, if your washing machine is giving you trouble, you can take the tips from this guest post by Cassie, an editor at Think Tank Home to recognize and overcome basic washing machine problems—Broken Washing Machine? No Problem!

Now on to the outfits from my fall capsule wardrobe!

Outfit #1 // Country in the fall

The fall season is the time of year when I like sporting my cowgirl boots best, and that’s very clear upon my favorite looks from this past month. First up is Outfit #1, which features a long time favorite outfit combination of mine, bootcut jeans paired with cowgirl boots.

Outfit #1: Bullhide Jewel Of The West Wool Cowgirl Hat / Lucky Brand Jacket (old) / Target Long Sleeve T-Shirt / Lucky Brand Jeans (similar) / Boulet Cowgirl Boots (similar)

Outfit #2 // Fall cowgirl

For my second pick, Outfit #2 features a very long cardigan. This was a new look for me, and I adore the drape and flow of this long piece. The bright orange color is a nice change from my wardrobe of heavy neutrals.

Outfit #2: Bullhide Jewel Of The West Wool Cowgirl Hat / BohoArtist Cardigan / Target Long Sleeve T-Shirt / Joe’s Skinny Jeans (similar) / Macie Bean Cowgirl Boots (similar) / Plaid Triangle Scarf

Outfit #3 // Brown cowgirl

My third and final cowgirl look, Outfit #3 is all about brown layers. I’ve been shifting my style over time to more and more browns and less and less black. I haven’t tossed all of my black pieces, as my next 2 outfits will show, but I try to shop for browns over black moving forward.

Outfit #4 // City chic

You’d be hard pressed to find an Instagram daily outfit blogger who doesn’t feature a cardigan and over the knee boots outfit this season. Outfit #4 is a layered look that I’ve seen in constant rotation among fashion and outfit bloggers this season.

Outfit #4: Merona Black Floppy Hat / Black Cardigan (similar) / BP Side Slit T-Shirt / Joe’s Skinny Jeans (similar) / Over The Knee Boots (similar)

Outfit #5 // City girl

Another over the knee boots look is Outfit #5, except this one is a simpler version. Just a knit top, jeans, and my boots.

Outfit #5: Merona Black Floppy Hat / Color Block Pullover / Joe’s Skinny Jeans (similar) / Over The Knee Boots (similar)

Outfit #6 // Brown prepster

My final outfit for the month was a classic prepster look for Outfit #6. A preppy look of a shirt layered with a knit has been a favorite of mine for many years. But now that I’m reviewing my monthly outfits, I’m thinking that my style has moved on from this look. And that’s exactly why I like to review my outfits, it gives me a chance to spot changes to my personal style. I like the browns here, but I think I’ll continue to shift away from a preppy look for a little while.

Outfit #6:  Uniqlo Extra Fine Merino Wool Pullover / Plaid Shirt (similar) / Levis Denizen Bootcut Jeans / Rockport Tristina Ankle Boot

Do you ever review your outfits?

  1. I really love the outfit no. 2 – Fall Cowgirl, because of the earth colors akin to leaves during the autumn season. The long drape of the cardigan and its long drape appended a bohemian touch. When it comes to design and shades, I love the neutral colors. Indeed, if you’ll take a look on my closet, you’ll find on my favorite hanging clothes organizer, the dresses and my oufits for school (mostly are plain, simple yet accessorized with elegant touches) well-displayed and organized.

Oh, I bought this hanging clothes organizer at http://www.tomorrowsoutfit.com
