3 Ways to Hide Holiday Weight Gain

The holiday season is long gone, but the weight I put on has stuck around.  While I work to lose those extra pounds that crept on from too many holiday parties and Christmas cookies, here are my 3 favorite ways to hide the weight gain:

  1. Scarves and Ponchos. When I am looking to hide a few pounds I stay away from infinity scarves and short ponchos.  Instead, the bigger the scarf or poncho the better because you get more drape from the materials.  I can easily hide any extra pounds with these pieces, as well as keep warm on a cold winter day. And a bonus is that the prints will draw the viewers eye up to my face, not my middle section or my lower half.
  2. Blazers and Cardigans. Sporting layers with a blazer or cardigan topper is my favorite way to hide a little extra weight. This works even better when the blazer or cardigan is a bold or neutral color and the rest of the outfit is a column of color, once again it will draw the viewers eyes up to my face and away from my problem areas.
  3. Button Down Shirts. Woven materials have a structure to them from the garment itself, which means it adds a defined shape to my outfit. When I’m hiding weight gain, and I don’t want to sport a layer, I look for crisp materials that will give form on it’s own, not get it’s shape from lying against lumps and bumps.
