I’ve just completed Week 5 of The DH Closet Challenge Part II-Wardrobe Refinement. This past week I tackled why the boutique has been on my mind. While I added 5 items to my working closet, I did manage to purge 10 from the boutique. Of course, once I get started with a closet purge, I usually keep going. After removing 10 items from the “2 for 1” purge during the week, I set my sights on another category within the boutique—Jeans. For the past 5 weeks, I’ve managed just fine with 7 pairs of jeans, yet I still have 6 jeans sitting in the boutique.
And here’s the crazy part.
I could replace almost all of the jeans in my working closet with the jeans from the boutique. But they are sitting unworn, clearly I do not need them.
Despite this observation, when I tried to purge all 6 jeans, I balked. It was simply too much for me. I compromised instead, keeping 2 and purging the rest. The 2 jeans I kept were added to my working closet.
Here’s what my working wardrobe is currently looking like after this weeks additions.
I have 56 items after week 5:
- 2 Vest (gear) (no change)
- 1 Pullover Fleece (gear) (no change)
- 2 Blazers (no change)
- 14 Knits (added 4)
- 5 T-Shirts (no change)
- 2 LS T’s (no change)
- 9 Jeans (added two)
- 1 Trousers (Business Capsule; no change)
- 2 Button down shirt (added 1)
- 1 Blouse (Business Capsule; no change)
- 2 Scarves (no change)
- 4 Tanks (no change)
- 4 Thermals (no change)
- 1 Cardigan (no change)
- 1 Hoodie (no change)
- 2 Ponchos (no change)
- 3 Pullovers/Sweaters (no change)
And here’s the boutique. Removing the 6pairs of jeans (purging 4 and moving 2 into the working closet) brings the boutique down to 51 items. At this point, the only bottoms left in the boutique are 2 pairs of shorts.
Have you ever compromised with yourself during a closet purge?
