I’ve just completed Week 3 of The DH Closet Challenge Part II-Wardrobe Refinement. During last week’s recap, I mentioned that my plan for Week 3 was to remix everything I already have in the working closet and to not add anything from the boutique. But life doesn’t always like a plan, and I was given a curve ball—spending my vacation in a climate much colder than my own. This meant I had to add yet MORE items to my working wardrobe.
At first, I was horrified.
I really wanted to work with what I already have, not to continue to add more. I almost threw in the towel. Only two weeks into the challenge and already my plans for it were getting wrecked. Then the light bulb went off. So what if my plan needed a little adjusting? Its ok that I added the cold weather items in a little early, this simply means that I won’t need to add anything for the first week when the cold weather finally hits my area. Satisfied that the challenge won’t suffer too much from this curve ball of an early additions of cold weather items, I proceeded to add to my working closet during Week 3.
I have 49 items after week 3:
- 2 Vest (gear) (added 1)
- 1 Pullover Fleece (gear) (no change)
- 2 Blazers (no change)
- 10 Knits (added 4)
- 5 T-Shirts (added 2)
- 2 LS T’s (added 1)
- 7 Jeans (one was used as gear) (no change)
- 1 Trousers (Business Capsule; no change)
- 1 Button down shirt (no change)
- 1 Blouse (Business Capsule; no change)
- 2 Scarves (added 1)
- 4 Tanks (added 1)
- 4 Thermals (added 3)
- 1 Cardigan (no change)
- 1 Hoodie (no change)
- 2 Ponchos (this is a new line item for this week)
- 3 Pullovers/Sweaters (this is a new line item for this week)
I added a total of 18 items for week three. For week 4 I’m going back to my original intent after week 2, to remix everything I already have and not add anything from the boutique. This time, I don’t see any curveballs coming up that would stop me.
Has a curve ball ever discouraged you from continuing with a wardrobe challenge?
