Once again a recently holiday had me shopping. This isn’t the first time a planned vacation/holiday had me adding to my wardrobe. Last time, I purchased 15 items! And I went off track, and purchased an additional 3 items that were not even for the upcoming vacation.
When I look at my wardrobe now, about a year and a half later, only 6 of those items are still in my current wardrobe. What happened to the rest?
The majority of the items I purchased were vacation specific. I just never sport dresses or heeled sandals on a regular basis, not even during our summer months. This meant that over time, these items were purged.
Just because it’s a vacation, doesn’t mean I have to go crazy and create an entire vacation capsule.
I kept two things in mind when shopping for a vacation/holiday this time around:
- Can I wear the item outside of vacation/holiday time?
- Purchase as little as possible overall.
This time, I only purchased four new items. The pullover and two shirts are all gear and can be used for horseback riding. The booties, I can sport to work on casual days. While these items did increase the total number of items in my wardrobe, the number of items purchased for an upcoming vacation/holiday is still lower than the last time I shopped for a vacation/holiday.
Do you ever use items that were purchased for a vacation/holiday after you return home?
