I declared I would not shop for one month here. My one month time frame is over. And similar to someone on a diet who ‘binges’ on a cheat day, I binged with my shopping for new shoes. My goal was to purchase two new pairs of shoes: a replacement for the black buckle loafer from this post, and a new addition to the total number of shoes for my business capsule wardrobe. But I ended up coming home with five pairs instead, yikes! So, why was I shopping and what went wrong?
The reason to shop for the black buckle loafer was easy, the black buckle loafers wore out and I was looking for a replacement shoe for my French Capsule Challenge Wardrobe.
The black flats pair very well with the items in my French Capsule Challenge wardrobe.
The new addition to the business capsule wardrobe, is because none of my current shoes seemed to ‘work’ with my navy suit (black wedge sandal, black mid shaft boot, grey wedge shoe). The closest shoe is the grey wedge but the two toned heel seemed a little too casual to my eye for this suit. I ignored the rest of my shoe wardrobe, as I am not comfortable sporting flat heeled shoes with my suits. The nude wedge is the new addition to the shoes for my business capsule wardrobe.
This leaves me with three extra shoes that I did not NEED but purchased anyway. I fell for the old “buy one get one half off” promotion in the stores. And my shopping did not end there. The turquoise shoes gave me the idea to expand on the turquoise capsule in my spring/summer capsule wardrobe, by adding a few solid color items.
Now that I’ve let the shopping beast out and purchased a handful of new items, I need to make sure that I do not continue to shop for spring/summer items. After all, we only have 2-3 months left of warm weather in my area and I certainly have plenty of stuff now.
Have you ever purchased more than you planned because of a promotion?
